Sophia Malik AIA, LEED AP, founder of Malik Office of Architecture and Development, has always championed community-focused and environmentally responsive design. She has been actively engaging clients and design teams from concept through construction for over 20 years. Her work has focused on civic, cultural and higher educational projects, as well as community-scaled commercial work and high-end residential projects. Her transition into real estate development stemmed from recognizing the importance of an architect’s voice in promoting design excellence within neighborhoods and communities. By initiating projects as a developer through the lens of an architect, Sophia is committed to adding value to the built environment, fostering sustainable growth, and enhancing the quality of life for future generations.
Sophia is a passionate voice in her community, promoting equity and inclusivity in the architecture profession. She serves a studio juror and mentor to students from the University of Utah and NOMA SLC and has served on the Women in Architecture SLC Board of Directors. Sophia has also served as a Board Director on the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Utah Board and the Utah Contemporary Arts Museum (UMOCA) and served as the chair of the Master Planning Committee for the Museum.
